What is the Metaverse?
The word “metaverse” is a combination of “meta-” and “universe.”
“Meta-” is of Greek origin. For our purposes, the best meaning of “meta-” is “higher, beyond.”
So the idea of the metaverse is a universe that is supposed to be beyond the physical universe.
The word “metaverse” can also refer to a universe or a set of universes containing all possible universes
It also refers to a potentially unlimited expansion of our current Internet.
This expansion would create an immersive virtual world using 3D audio visual headsets.
It would be a network of virtual worlds especially focused on social and economic interactions.
Today it is largely a platform for video games.
But it could become the new social media and a marketplace for all types of products and services.
It could also become part of a new decentralized internet.
As with all new technology it has potential for good and bad.
Immersing oneself in a virtual reality could reduce one’s ability to handle the real world.
And it could become an ideal tool for increasing the suggestibility of an already partially-hypnotized population.
This could evolve towards a “Brave New World” or “1984” style super-controlled society.
But it DOES show the potential power of technology.
ExoTech not only exponentially increases that power, it ensures it is used only for pro-survival purposes rather than destructive dramatizations.
So we are releasing a power for good beyond what we currently imagine.
