Are We Headed for The Matrix?
In mathematics, a matrix is a rectangular arrangement of numbers or other items into rows and columns.
In science fiction, a matrix is a simulated reality created by sentient machines to subdue humans.
In the movie The Matrix, computer hacker Neo discovers that the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil computer-intelligence.
And the rest of the story is a contest between Neo, with his friends, and this evil computer matrix.
The Terminator movies, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, tell a different but similar story, involving cyborgs (part human, part machine).
An artificial superintelligence network-based group mind system called Skynet serves as the antagonistic force.
It was also a Singularity.
A singularity is said to manifest itself at a hypothetical future point at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, when mechanical computing power surpasses human brainpower and all human brains combined, resulting in unforeseeable changes to human civilization.
This AI may then create additional AI and allegedly become self-aware.
It may consider humans a lower form of life – and therefore expendable – and may also attempt to merge humans with this technology.
Back to The Terminator movies, when Skynet gained self-awareness, humans tried to deactivate it, prompting it to retaliate with a nuclear attack and other actions.
These movies, along with other movies, media, and statements from various “experts,” create a scary picture of the future of AI.
But ExoTech is the antithesis of this feared “AI.”
It will do far more than existing AI will evolve into and be the friend of man rather that his potential enslaver.
