Faith Barter
Faith has had a long career in the health services industry. After completing school in Grahamstown in South Africa, she started her nursing career in Cape Town. Having completed a degree in Nursing through the University of South Africa, she spent some years in nursing management where she ran operating theaters as well as a private hospital. She then moved into clinical coding – determining diagnostic and procedural codes for medical treatment – and went on to train many clinical coders in one of the largest private hospital groups in South Africa. She also worked with the clinical data and statistics. During her career she has assisted extensively with testing of the electronic messaging between the hospitals and medical insurance companies – an area in which she now consults.
