Software Confusion

Posted July 14, 2025, under The ExoFuture Alert, by ExoTech Administrator

In today’s digital world, software is everywhere — powering everything from our phones and printers to the systems that handle our banking and health records.

While software is supposed to make life easier, it often does just the opposite. One of the biggest sources of frustration? The incompatibility between programs, platforms and file formats.

Most software tools are built to operate in isolation. They can’t easily “talk to” other systems.

A file created in one program often does not open in another. A document might look fine on one device and fall apart on another.

Simple tasks — like sharing, printing or transferring data — can turn into time-wasting puzzles. And even when software is designed to be compatible, it often requires specific versions, add-ons or workarounds just to function.

Why is it like this?

Some of the difficulty stems from the limited nature of computing technologies.

But there’s another reason: profit.

Companies deliberately design their software to be unique and closed, locking users into their brand, ecosystem or upgrade cycle.

Incompatibility then becomes a business strategy. The more frustrated you are with older versions or competing systems, the more likely you are to pay for the next upgrade, subscribe to a service or buy related products.

This planned complexity may boost sales — but it doesn’t serve the consumer. Instead of simplifying tasks, software can become a maze of complexities, updates and hidden costs.

ExoTech will eventually replace almost all existing software

It puts all the main software functionalities in one single totally compatible platform PLUS allowing users to create their OWN apps.
This is a huge step towards simplifying computing and is yet ANOTHER of the many ways ExoTech will change the world.
