What Is ExoTechnology?
ExoTechnology was founded by Peter Warren, who had become proficient in the observation and evaluation of data in the 1970s. After some very successful business ventures since that time, he conducted a data evaluation on the technology of software and computing. He investigated not only applications like Word and Excel but also websites, accounting systems, phone apps, communications, security, and even robotics. He located many very serious situations and the reasons behind them. It makes for fascinating reading. More importantly though, he was able to develop a correct technology for software based on the elimination of the illogical situations he had detected. It is completely new, very simple, extremely powerful and bears little resemblance to current methodologies.
I have been a software developer for almost 40 years. I started out writing business and accounting software in COBOL for Mini-Computers (which had just come out) in 1980. I went on to write device drivers and firmware for large fault-tolerant storage systems and security devices in C and C++, and then web applications on various platforms. I have been a freelance consultant for most of my career, which allowed me to work for a vast array of clients in many industries and of all sizes. ExoTech and this company are like nothing I have seen before.
This new technology, applied, results in a software environment that is incredibly intuitive. Users can quickly build applications which seamlessly integrate with each other, and which anyone can customize to their own needs. It results in a computing environment where anyone can securely and easily communicate with anyone else, share applications and data, set up their own personal and business processes, and link them together to automate things in completely new ways. It eliminates the need for complex hierarchies of incomprehensible menus, arcane commands, and strange language syntaxes. It even makes natural language control of all programs practical and automatic.
As a first step, we are building a cross-platform environment to enable people, from the computer-illiterate to the “power user” and the programmer, to do the things that people ought to be able to do with their computers, but in this fantastic and beautiful new way, without stifling restrictions, limitations and complexities. Once people see what computing can be, we believe that this new way of using computers has the potential to eventually spread to the entire world of software.
